Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang peningkatan kemampuan memahami dan keterampilan proses sains siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran berbasis model ilmiah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian eksperimen kuasi dengan desain pretest-posttest control group design yang dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas X di salah satu sekolah menengah atas (SMA) di Kota Bandung. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode sampling kelompok (cluster sampling). Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes awal dan tes akhir untuk mengukur kemampuan memahami dan keterampilan proses sains siswa, skala sikap untuk mengetahui tanggapan siswa terhadap pembelajaran berbasis model ilmiah, dan lembar observasi untuk mengamati keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t dua sampel independen menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan memahami dan keterampilan proses sains siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran berbasis model ilmiah secara signifikan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis model ilmiah secara signifikan dapat lebih meningkatkan kemampuan memahami dan keterampilan proses sains siswa dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. ---------- The research aims to find about an increase in students’ understanding and science process skills taught with the scientific-based teaching and learning. It adopted a quasi-experimental method with pretest-posttest control group design conducted to the tenth graders of senior high school in Bandung City. The sample was taken with cluster sampling technique. Data were collected using pretest and posttest to measure students’ understanding and science process skills, attitudes scale to find students’ responses to scientific-based learning model, and observation sheet to observe the teaching and learning process. The results of hypothesis testing using t-test for two independent samples show that the increase in the understanding and science process skills of students attending scientific-based learning model was significantly greater than that of students attending conventional teaching and learning. It is concluded that scientific-based learning model has significantly increased students’ understanding and science process skills.
