Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dan fakta rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa serta sikap negatif siswa terhadap matematika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa menggunakan pembelajaran dengan strategi REACT dan membandingkan dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional serta mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan strategi REACT dan terhadap soal-soal kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII di salah satu SMP Negeri di kota Bandung, sedangkan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah dua kelas dari populasi tersebut yang memiliki kemampuan relatif sama. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa, angket dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran dengan strategi REACT lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa melalui pembelajaran konvensional serta sikap positif siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan strategi REACT This research is caused by the importance of students’ mathematical communication skills and a fact of the low students' mathematical communication skills and negative response from students in mathematics. The purpose of this reseach is to know the improvement in students’ mathematical communication skills that study by REACT strategy and compare with the improvement students’mathematical communication skills that learn by conventional learning, also know the response of student in learning mathematics by REACT strategy. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group. The population are all students of class VII in one of the Junior High School in the Bandung city, while samples in this research were two classes of the population that had relatively equal ability. The research data obtained by a test of mathematical communication, questionnaire and observation sheet. The results showed that the improvement of mathematical communication by REACT strategy is better than the improvement of mathematical communication by conventional learning also the positive response from students in learning mathematics by REACT starategy
