Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan generik sains dan hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa pada materi kalor menggunakan penerapan media visualisasi pada pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu dengan desain “the randomized pretest-posttest control group design” yang dilakukan pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Cianjur dengan sampel siswa kelas VII pada tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan menggunakan tes awal dan tes akhir untuk mengetahui keterampilan generik sains dan hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa pada materi kalor, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD, dan skala sikap tanggapan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan peningkatan keterampilan generik sains dan hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa pada kelas yang menerapkan media visualisasi dalam pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas yang menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD tanpa penerapan media visualisasi. Dengan demikian, peningkatan keterampilan generik sains dan hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa sangat dipengaruhi oleh pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dengan penerapan media visualisasi pada materi kalor. Siswa memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap penerapan media visualisasi pada pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dengan penerapan media visualisasi sangat disenangi siswa dan media visualisasi sangat menarik bagi siswa sehingga dapat mempermudah siswa dalam memahami materi kalor yang bersifat abstrak. This study aims to determine the increase in generic science skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students in the material medium heat using a visualization application in STAD cooperative learning. The research method used is a quasi- experimental design with " the randomized pretest - posttest control group " is performed on one of the Junior High School in Cianjur with sample class VII in the school year 2013/2014 . Data collection was performed using the initial test and final test to determine the generic science skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students in the material heat, observation sheets enforceability of STAD cooperative learning, and students' questionnaire responses. The results showed an increase in generic science skills and students cognitive learning outcomes of the media class that implements the visualization of the STAD cooperative learning more than in the classroom using cooperative learning without application of visualization media. Thus, the increase in generic science skills and students cognitive learning outcomes of STAD cooperative learning is strongly influenced by the application of the concept of visualization medium heat. Students responded positively to the application of visualization media in STAD cooperative learning. STAD cooperative learning with the application of visualization is very unpopular student media and media visualization very attractive to students so as to facilitate students in understanding the material of heat that is abstract.
