Abstract
Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah memainkan peran yang sangat vital dalam menentukan kualitas dan mutu pendidikan, terutama di tengah dinamika sistem pendidikan Indonesia yang terus berkembang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara mendalam peran kepala sekolah, baik sebagai manajer yang mengelola organisasi sekolah maupun sebagai edukator yang terlibat langsung dalam proses pembelajaran, terhadap mutu pendidikan yang dihasilkan. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi peran mediasi yang dimainkan oleh peran edukator dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yang dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Banjaran, dengan melibatkan 49 responden yang terdiri dari guru-guru serta wakil kepala sekolah. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada seluruh responden, dan hasilnya dianalisis menggunakan metode Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa peran kepala sekolah sebagai manajer dan edukator berada dalam kategori kinerja yang sangat baik dan memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap mutu pendidikan. Secara khusus, peran edukator terbukti memiliki pengaruh langsung yang signifikan terhadap mutu pendidikan, sementara peran edukator juga memediasi dengan kuat pengaruh peran manajer terhadap mutu pendidikan. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi antara kedua peran tersebut sangat penting, dan untuk mencapai peningkatan mutu pendidikan yang optimal dan berkelanjutan, kepala sekolah disarankan untuk memprioritaskan serta secara aktif menjalankan peran edukatornya, dengan tetap mengembangkan kemampuan manajerial mereka. School leadership plays a vital role in determining the quality and standard of education, especially amid the dynamic developments in Indonesia's education system. This study aims to analyze in depth the role of school principals, both as managers who oversee school organizations and as educators directly involved in the learning process, in relation to the quality of education produced. The main focus of this study is to explore the mediating role played by the educator role in improving educational quality. A quantitative approach was used in this study, conducted at SMAN 1 Banjaran, involving 49 respondents consisting of teachers and vice principals. Data were collected using a questionnaire distributed to all respondents, and the results were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The analysis results indicate that the principal's role as a manager and educator falls into the category of very good performance and has a significant impact on the quality of education. Specifically, the educator role was found to have a significant direct influence on educational quality, while the educator role also strongly mediated the influence of the manager role on educational quality. This study emphasizes that the integration of both roles is crucial, and to achieve optimal and sustainable improvements in educational quality, school principals are advised to prioritize and actively fulfill their educator role while continuing to develop their managerial skills.
