Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan yang timbul selama pembelajaran menulis khususnya menulis teks deskripsi di kelas VII B SMP Negeri 3 Soreang. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan hasil pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi melalui strategi critical incident. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk memaparkan perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan hasil pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi melalui strategi critical incident. Bertolak dari permasalahan di atas, peneliti menggunakan strategi critical incident dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa. Strategi critical incident merupakan pembelajaran yang mana siswa harus mengingat dan mendeskripsikan pengalaman masa lalunya yang sesuai dengan topik materi yang disampaikan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan secara objektif permasalahan pembelajaran di kelas yang menyangkut perbaikan, peningkatan, dan pengelolaan kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) perencanaan pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi dengan menggunakan strategi critical incident telah berjalan sesuai dengan perencanaan yang telah ditetapkan; (2) pelaksanaan pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi dengan menggunakan strategi critical incident dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus; (3) hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskripsi. Pada siklus I nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 61 dan siklus II nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat menjadi 78. Nilai siswa pada siklus II sudah mencapai KKM. Ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa sudah mampu menulis teks deskripsi dengan baik dan strategi critical incident cocok digunakan dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi. Kata kunci : Menulis Teks Deskripsi,Strategi Critical Incident, dan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas This research is motivated by problems that arise during the teaching of writing, especially writing text descriptions in class VII B SMP Negeri 3 Soreang. Formulation of the problem in this research is how the planning, implementation and outcomes of learning to write text descriptions through critical incident strategy. The purpose of this study is to describe the planning, implementation and outcomes of learning to write text descriptions through critical incident strategy. Based on the above problems, the researchers used the critical incident strategy in an effort to improve students' ability to write text descriptions. Learning strategies is critical incidents in which students have to remember and describe past experiences appropriate to the topic of the material presented. The method used is a Class Action Research (CAR). This study aimed to describe objectively the problem of learning in the classroom involving repair, improvement, and classroom management. The results showed that (1) the planning of learning to write text description using the critical incident strategy has been run in accordance with a predetermined plan; (2) the implementation of learning to write text description using the critical incident strategy carried out by two cycles; (3) the results showed an increase in the students' ability to write text descriptions. In the first cycle students' average score was 61 and the second cycle of the average value of students increased to 78. The value of the students in the second cycle has been reached KKM. This shows that students are able to write a good description text with critical incidents and strategies suitable for use in learning to write text descriptions.
