Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kenyataan selama ini pembelajaran IPS belum mengembangkan keterampilan sosial siswa. Pembelajaran masih bersifat teacher centered, tidak menggali pengetahuan siswa, sehingga pembelajaran tidak membuat siswa aktif . Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui penerapan metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT (Teams Games Tournaments) pada mata pelajaran IPS dalam meningkatkan keterampilan sosial siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan tujuan untuk memperbaiki masalah-masalah yang ada dalam proses belajar mengajar dalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di kelas. Prosedur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa siklus dimana setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara, observasi, studi dokumentasi, rekaman, foto dan video. Analisis menggunakan metode yang digunakan oleh Huberman dan Miles berbentuk siklus terdiri dari pengumpulan data, reduksi data, display data dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Pembelajaran IPS sebelum diterapkannya metode pembelajaran kooperatif TGT (Teams Games Tournaments) masih berpusat pada guru ( Teacher centered), (2) Penerapan metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT (Teasms Games Tournaments ) pada mata pelajaran IPS telah mampu meningkatkan keaktifan dan kreativitas peserta didik, sehingga siswa memiliki keterampilan sosial yang tinggi. Hal ini terbukti dari siklus ke siklus terdapat peningkatan partisipasi siswa dalam berdiskusi kelompok (3) mampu meningkatkan keterampilan sosial peserta didik, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam mengikuti permainan dan turnamen. Dengan demikian model pembelajarn kooperatif tipe TGT dapat dijadikan salah satu alternative dalam pembelajaran IPS untuk meningkatkan keterampilan sosial peserta didik dalam bentuk proses maupun hasil pembelajaran. This research is motivated by the fact that the teaching and learning of social subject has not developed the students’ social skills. Learning is still teacher centered, does not develop/explore the students’ knowledge. Hence, it does not make the students learn actively. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of cooperative learning methods TGT (Teams Games Tournaments) in the social subject to improve the students’ social skill. The method used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR) in order to fix the problems that exist in the teaching and learning process in order to improve the quality of learning in the classroom. The procedure used in this research is in the form of cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation and reflection. The techniques used to collect data are in the forms of interviews, observation, documents study, recording, photos and video. Huberman and Miles method was used to analyze the data in shaped cycle which consists of data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusion. Results of the study reveals that (1) prior to the implementation of cooperative learning methods TGT (Teams Games Tournaments), the teaching and learning of social subject is teacher-centered, (2) the application of cooperative learning methods TGT (Teams Games Tournaments) in social subject has been able to increase the students’ activity and creativity, so that students have a high social skills. This can be observed from the increase of students’ participation in group discussion from cycle to cycle (3) this method improved the students’ social skills as shown by the increase of students’ participation in the games and tournaments. Thus, TGT cooperative learning model can be used as an alternative in teaching social studies to improve the social skills of learners in the form of process and learning outcomes.
