Abstract
Membaca permulaan merupakan keterampilan yang penting dikuasai oleh seorang siswa sekolah dasar di kelas rendah. Dalam hal ini membaca permulaan tidak hanya sekedar mengucapkan bahasa tulisan melainkan mampu untuk menanggapi serta memahami isi bahasa tulisan. Secara umum, keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I di berbagai sekolah dasar masih tergolong rendah. Untuk itu perlunya ada solusi dalam mengembangkan keterampilan membaca permulaan. Salah satunya adalah menerapkan metode Reading Aloud berbantuan flashcard. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk dapat mengetahui : 1. Keterampilan membaca permulaan sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode Reading Aloud berbantuan flashcard 2. Perbandingan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa yang menggunakan metode Reading Aloud berbantuan flashcard dengan siswa yang menggunakan metode suku kata. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuasi-eksperimen, menggunakan sampel sebanyak 24 siswa untuk kelas eksperimen dan 22 siswa untuk kelas kontrol. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan terdapat peningkatan yang dibuktikan dengan hasil untuk kelas eksperimen sebesar 63% sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 50%, yang berarti terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara metode Reading Aloud berbantuan flashcard terhadap keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Reading Aloud berbantuan flashcard berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan membaca permulaan. ----- Beginning reading is an important skill mastered by an elementary school student in the lower grades. In this case, beginning reading is not just pronouncing written language but being able to respond to and understand the content of written language. In general, the beginning reading skills of grade I students in various elementary schools are still relatively low. For this reason, there needs to be a solution in developing beginning reading skills. One of them is applying the Reading Aloud method assisted by flashcards. The purpose of this research is to be able to know: 1. Beginning reading skills before and after using the Reading Aloud method assisted by flashcards 2. Comparison of students' beginning reading skills using the Reading Aloud method assisted by flashcards with students using the syllable method. This study used a quasi-experimental research method. Using a sample of 24 students for the experimental class and 22 students for the control class. The results of this study show that there is an increase as evidenced by the results for the experimental class of 63% while the control class is 50%, which means that there is a significant influence between the Reading Aloud method assisted by flashcards on students' beginning reading skills. So it can be concluded that the Reading Aloud method assisted by flashcards has an effect on beginning reading skills.
