    Abstract

    Kemampuan berkosakata bahasa Inggris menjadi sesuatu yang krusial untuk mendukung peserta didik mengeksplorasi pengetahuan global. Rendahnya kemampuan kosakata bahasa Inggris peserta didik menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk: 1) Menganalisis dan mengetahui peningkatan kosakata bahasa Inggris peserta didik yang menggunakan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dengan dukungan media audio-visual, dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang menggunakan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan media flashcard pada peserta didik kelas III; 2) Menganalisis dan mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dengan dukungan media audio-visual terhadap peningkatan kemampuan kosakata bahasa Inggris peserta didik dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris kelas III. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experiment dengan desain Non-Equivalent Control Group Design pada materi preposition of place (preposisi tempat) dengan subjek penelitian berjumlah 44 peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrument tes peningkatan kemampuan kosakata bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan kosakata bahasa Inggris peserta didik dengan penerapan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) didukung media audio-visual dengan nilai rata-rata posttest 84,73 lebih baik daripada peserta didik dengan penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) didukung flashcard denga rata-rata posttest 79,09, dan 2) Terdapat pengaruh pembelajaran dengan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dengan dukungan media audio-visual terhadap peningkatan kemampuan kosakata bahasa Inggris peserta didik. ----- Mastery of English vocabulary is crucial in supporting students to explore global knowledge. The low level of English vocabulary mastery among students forms the background of this study. The objectives of this research are: (1) To analyze and determine the improvement in English vocabulary mastery of students who are taught using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by audio-visual media, compared to those taught using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by flashcards among Grade III students; (2) To analyze and examine the effect of implementing the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by audio-visual media on the improvement of students' English vocabulary mastery in Grade III English lessons. This research employs a quasi-experimental method with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design on the topic of prepositions of place, involving 44 students as research subjects. The instrument used was an English vocabulary improvement test. Based on the research results, the conclusions are as follows: (1) The improvement in English vocabulary mastery of students taught using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by audio-visual media, with a post-test average score of 84.73, is better than that of students taught using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by flashcards, who achieved an average post-test score of 79.09; and (2) There is a significant effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by audio-visual media on the improvement of students’ English vocabulary mastery.
