Abstract
Kemampuan literasi membaca merupakan keterampilan dasar dan kompetensi inti bagi siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya tingkat literasi membaca siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk: 1) Mengetahui dan menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan literasi membaca siswa sekolah dasar yang mendapatkan penerapan model Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) berbantuan Let’s Read dalam pembelajaran lebih baik dari pada siswa yang mendapatkan penerapan model kooperatif tipe STAD di Sekolah Dasar. 2) Mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) berbantuan Let’s Read terhadap literasi membaca siswa kelas III di Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimen dengan desain non-equivalent pretest posttest control group design pada pokok bahasan teks narasi dengan subjek penelitian berjumlah 58 siswa sekolah dasar. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data berupa tes literasi membaca yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan (intervensi). Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan diperoleh kesimpulan: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan literasi membaca yang mendapatkan pembelajaran melalui model Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) yang didampingi oleh Let’s Read mengalami peningkatan kemampuan literasi membaca sebesar 53,8 % lebih signifikan dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. 2) Terdapat pengaruh pembelajaran menggunakan model Teaching at The Right Level (TaRL) berbantuan Let’s Read terhadap kemampuan literasi membaca siswa sebesar 34 %. Selain itu, model TaRL yang didampingi oleh Let’s Read memberikan dampak positif dalam keterampilan literasi membaca siswa. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk mengeksplorasi aspek literasi lainnya, seperti pemahaman bacaan dan keterampilan berpikir kritis. ----- Reading literacy ability is a fundamental skill and a core competency for elementary school students. This study is motivated by the low level of students’ reading literacy. The objectives of this study are: (1) To identify and analyze the improvement in reading literacy ability of elementary school students who received instruction using the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) model assisted by Let’s Read, compared to those taught using the cooperative learning model of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type (2) To determine the effect of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) model assisted by Let’s Read on the reading literacy of third-grade elementary students. This research employed a quasi experimental method with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design, focusing on narrative text as the subject matter, involving 58 elementary students as research subjects. The instrument used to collect data was a reading literacy test administered before and after the intervention. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that: (1) The improvement in reading literacy ability among students taught using the TaRL model assisted by Let’s Read showed a significant increase of 53.8%, higher than the control group (2) There is a positive effect of the TaRL model assisted by Let’s Read on students’ reading literacy ability, with a contribution of 34%. Additionally, this model positively impacts students reading literacy skills. Future research is recommended to explore other aspects of literacy, such as reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
