Dumaris Sri Windarti, - (2022) PERSEPSI IBU TERHADAP STIMULASI DINI PADA ANAK USIA TODDLER. S1 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Abstract
Early childhood education plays a fundamental role in shaping children's cognitive, social, and emotional development. The 0–6 year period, especially the 1–3 year age range (toddler), is often referred to as the Golden Age, as this phase is marked by rapid brain development. Proper early stimulation can enhance children's cognitive, language, motor, and social- emotional abilities. However, mothers' understanding of the importance of early stimulation varies and is influenced by several factors, such as knowledge, experience, and social environment. This study aims to explore mothers' perceptions of early stimulation in toddlers, identify the factors influencing their understanding, and examine the actions they take in providing appropriate stimulation. Using a qualitative approach, this research collected data through in-depth interviews and observations of mothers with children aged 1–3 years. The findings indicate that most mothers acknowledge the importance of early stimulation but still face challenges in its implementation, such as time constraints, lack of information, and economic factors. Additionally, it was found that mothers with higher education levels and better access to information tend to provide more diverse and intensive stimulation. Therefore, broader socialization and education efforts are needed to raise awareness of the importance of early stimulation to ensure optimal child development from an early age.
