Hasna Rania Salsabila, - (2024) PENGARUH EMPATI TERHADAP SCHADENFREUDE YANG DIMODERASI JUST WORLD BELIEF PADA PENGGUNA MEDIA SOSIAL X. S1 thesis, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Abstract
This study examined the contribution of empathy on schadenfreude in X social media users moderated by just world belief. This study used a quantitative approach, regression method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 431 X social media users through convenience sampling, a non-probability sampling technique. The Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI), Beliefe in Just World (BJW), and Schadenfreude instruments that had been adapted into Indonesian were used in this study. Data analysis was carried out using simple linear regression test analysis and moderated regression analysis (MRA) test. The results of the study did not show any differences in the levels of empathy, just world belief, and schadenfreude of X social media users based on gender, age, education level, and daily usage of X social media. Not only that, this study found that most X social media users have high levels of empathy, high just world belief, and low schadenfreude. The results of the linear regression test analysis showed that empathy and while just world belief had a negative influence on schadenfreude. In addition, the results of the moderated regression analysis (MRA) test showed that just world belief did not moderate the influence of empathy on schadenfreude. This means that just world belief could only be a predictor variable for schadenfreude and could not be a moderator variable for the influence of empathy on schadenfreude.
