Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kesadaran sosial siswa di kelas, terutama pada aspek adaptasi kemampuan siswa terhadap situasi pembelajaran, kepedulian terhadap teman, dan pengertian sosial dalam kerja sama kelompok. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan upaya peningkatan kesadaran sosial siswa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dalam mata pelajaran IPS. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan pendekatan spiral dari Kemmis dan McTaggart, yang meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan lembar observasi, catatan lapangan, serta wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang diterapkan berupa analisis deskriptif terhadap catatan lapangan dan lembar observasi, serta menghitung hasil penilaian sikap siswa. Penelitian ini berlangsung di kelas VII-C SMP Yadika 1 Cicalengka dan dilakukan dalam tiga siklus pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran sosial siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS. Pada siklus terakhir, sebagian besar indikator, seperti kemampuan adaptasi terhadap lingkungan kelas, kepedulian terhadap sesama, dan pemahaman sosial dalam kerja sama, mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan. Siswa semakin mampu menyesuaikan diri dengan berbagai situasi pembelajaran, seperti beradaptasi saat harus bekerja dalam kelompok atau merespons dinamika kelas dengan fleksibilitas. Selain itu, siswa menunjukkan perhatian lebih besar terhadap teman-teman dan memiliki pemahaman yang lebih baik dalam bekerja sama dengan kelompok. Peningkatan tersebut telah mencapai target yang diharapkan oleh peneliti. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model Contextual Teaching Learning terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran sosial siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS di kelas VII-C SMP Yadika 1 Cicalengka. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi bahwa peningkatan kesadaran sosial akan mendukung kemampuan siswa untuk beradaptasi, berkomunikasi, serta bertanggung jawab secara sosial dalam lingkungan sekolah. This research was motivated by the low level of social awareness among students in the classroom, particularly in their ability to adapt to learning situations, show care for their peers, and demonstrate social understanding in group collaboration. The aim of this research is to describe efforts to enhance students' social awareness through the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in social studies lessons. The method used in this research is classroom action research with a spiral design from Kemmis and McTaggart, which involves the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection was conducted using observation sheets, field notes, and interviews. The data analysis technique applied was descriptive analysis of the field notes and observation sheets, along with the calculation of student attitude assessments. This research was conducted in Class VII-C at SMP Yadika 1 Cicalengka and was carried out over three learning cycles. The results of the research show that the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model is effective in increasing students' social awareness in social studies. By the final cycle, most of the indicators, such as the ability to adapt to the classroom environment, concern for others, and social understanding in cooperative tasks, had shown significant improvement. Students became more capable of adapting to various learning situations, including adjusting to group work or responding flexibly to class dynamics. Moreover, students exhibited greater concern for their peers and demonstrated a better understanding of working together in groups. These improvements met the target set by the researchers. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning model has proven effective in enhancing students' social awareness in social studies in Class VII-C of SMP Yadika 1 Cicalengka. The implications of this research suggest that improving social awareness can strengthen students' ability to adapt, communicate, and take social responsibility within the school environment.
