Abstract
----- This study was motivated by the low writing skills of elementary school students. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model applied to the control class and the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model applied to the experimental class on the writing skills of procedure texts in elementary school students and to determine the comparison of the writing skills of procedure texts of students who get learning with the PjBL model with students who get learning PBL model. This research used quasi experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The samples used were IV C and IV D grade students at SDN Cikampek Utara 1, each class consisting of 25 experimental and control class students. The research instruments used were procedure text writing skill instruments, observation, and documentation. The results of data analysis showed that the effect of the PBL model on students’ procedure text writing skills in the control class was 54,1% and the effect of the PjBL model in the experimental class wa 61,7%. The N-Gain test results of the experimental class using the PjBL model were 0,59 with a medium category and the control class was 0,39 with a medium category, meaning that students who received learning with the PjBL model were better than students who received the PBL learning model.
