Abstract

Perilaku pencarian informasi didasari oleh adanya kebutuhan setiap individu akan informasi yang harus dipenuhi. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan kebutuhan informasi siswa SMA Negeri 1 Bandung mengenai materi pembelajaran dan sumber untuk menyelesaikan tugas sekolah. Siswa membutuhkan informasi yang bisa lebih dipercaya dan dipertanggungjawabkan kebenarannya sehingga siswa cenderung lebih mengandalkan mesin pencari akademis sebagai sumber informasi. Salah satunya adalah mesin pencari Google Cendekia, karena bisa di akses dengan lebih mudah dan cepat ke sumber daya ilmiah yang relevan dengan kebutuhan informasi siswa. Penelitian ini secara umum memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku pencarian informasi siswa SMA Negeri 1 Bandung dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasinya dengan menggunakan mesin pencari Google Cendekia. Model perilaku pencarian informasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model perilaku pencarian informasi David Ellis. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode survei melalui penyebaran kuesioner. Teknik untuk pengambilan sampel menggunakan cluster random sampling dengan responden berjumlah 81 orang yang terdiri dari siswa kelas XII MIPA 3, XII MIPA 4, dan XII IPS 1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku pencarian informasi siswa SMA Negeri 1 Bandung dengan mesin pencari Google Cendekia mendapatkan persentase skor sebesar 77,4% dengan kategori baik. Secara khusus, hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku siswa sebelum aktivitas pencarian informasi mendapatkan persentase skor sebesar 84,5% dengan kategori sangat baik, perilaku siswa saat aktivitas pencarian informasi mendapatkan persentase skor sebesar 73,2% dengan kategori baik, dan perilaku siswa setelah aktivitas pencarian informasi mendapatkan persentase skor sebesar 83,5% dengan kategori sangat baik. Information-seeking behavior is driven by the need of each individual for information that must be fulfilled. This research is motivated by the information needs of SMA Negeri 1 Bandung high school students regarding learning materials and sources to complete school assignments. Students need information that can be more trusted and accountable for its truth, so students tend to rely more on academic search engines as a source of information. One of these is Google Scholar, as it can be accessed more easily and quickly to relevant scientific resources needed by students. The general objective of this research is to understand the information-seeking behavior of SMA Negeri 1 Bandung high school students to fulfill their information needs using the Google Scholar search engine. The information-seeking behavior model used in this research was David Ellis's information-seeking behavior model. The research approach used was descriptive quantitative with a survey method through questionnaire distribution. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling with 81 respondents consisting of students from XII MIPA 3, XII MIPA 4, and XII IPS 1. The research results indicate that the information-seeking behavior of SMA Negeri 1 Bandung high school students using the Google Scholar search engine received a score percentage of 77.4% in the good category. Specifically, the findings show that students' behavior before information-seeking activities received a score percentage of 84.5% in the very good category, students’ behavior during information-seeking activities received a score percentage of 73.2% in the good category, and students’ behavior after information-seeking activities received a score percentage of 83.5% in the very good category.
