Abstract
Empati pada mahasiswa bimbingan dan konseling sebagai calon guru BK/konselor merupakan kompetensi kepribadian yang penting untuk dimiliki guna menunjang pelaksanaan layanan bimbingan dan konseling. Empati dapat dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor salah satunya pola asuh orang tua. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menggambarkan hubungan empati mahasiswa dengan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pola asuh orang tua. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain survei. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 200 mahasiswa BK angkatan 2020, 2021, 2022, dan 2023 yang didapatkan menggunakan teknik quota sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagai berikut: (1) kecenderungan empati mahasiswa berada pada kategori empati (2) secara umum persepsi mahasiswa terhadap parental control rendah dan parental warmth tinggi dengan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pola asuh orang tua paling banyak adalah pola asuh permissive, lalu pola asuh authoritative, selanjutnya pola asuh uninvolved, terakhir yaitu pola asuh authoritarian; (3) Tidak terdapat hubungan signifikan antara empati dan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pola asuh orang tua dengan derajat hubungan antara empati dan persepsi terhadap pola asuh orang tua yang kecil. Rekomendasi berupa media bimbingan dan konseling untuk mengembangkan empati serta menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk meneliti pengaruh pola asuh orang tua terhadap empati mahasiswa. Empathy in guidance and counselling students as prospective counseling teachers is an important personality competency to have in order to support the implementation of guidance and counselling services. Empathy can be influenced by several factors, one of which is parenting styles. The study aims to describe the relationship between student empathy and students’ perceptions of parenting styles. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey design. The research sample consisted of 200 counseling students from the class of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 who were obtained using the quota sampling technique. The results showed the following: (1) the tendency of students' empathy is in the empathy category (2) in general, students' perceptions of parental control are low and parental warmth is high with students' perceptions of parenting styles are mostly permissive parenting, then authoritative parenting, then uninvolved parenting, finally authoritarian parenting; (3) There is no significant relationship between empathy and students' perceptions of parenting styles with a small degree of relationship between empathy and perceptions of parenting styles. Recommendations in the form of guidance and counselling media to develop empathy and use a qualitative approach to examine the influence of parental parenting on student empathy.
