Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kontribusi ekstrakurikuler bola basket terhadap kecerdasan emosional dan perilaku hidup sehat siswa di SMAN 1 Sindang Indramayu. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan responden/sampel yang berjumlah 28 orang siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bola basket. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner atau yang biasa disebut dengan angket. Setelah dilakukan pengolahan data dan analisis data dihasilkan hubungan atau koefesien korelasi antara kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bola basket dengan kecerdasan emosional, dengan nilai koefesien korelasi (rhitung) sebesar 0,786 > (rtabel) 0,374 dengan nilai signifikan/probabilitas 0,00 < 0,05 (α) menunujukan bahwa hubungan tersebut signifikan/positif. Berdasarkan hubungan tersebut diperoleh nilai koefesien determinasi (KD) sebesar 62%. Diperoleh juga hubungan antara ekstrakurikuler bola basket dengan perilaku hidup sehat sebesar (rhitung) 0,698 > (rtabel) 0,374 dengan nilai signifikan/probabilitas sebesar 0,00 < 0,05 (α) menunjukan bahwa hubungan tersebut signifikan/positif. Berasarkan hubungan tersebut diperoleh nilai koefesien determinasi (KD) sebesar 48,7%. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bola basket berkontribusi positif terhadap kecerdasan emosional dan perilaku hidup sehat siswa SMAN 1 Sindang yang mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakurikuler bola basket. This study aimed to find out the significance of contribution of basketball extra-curricular program towards SMAN 1 Sindang Indramayu students’ emotional intellegency and healthy behavior. This study employed quantitative descriptive in which 28 students who were the members of basketball extra-curricular were selected as respondents. Questionnaire was used as an instrument to collect the data. The findings showed that correlation coefficient between basketball extra-curricular program and students’ emotional intellegency (robtained) is 0.786 which exceeds the critical value (rcritical), 0.374, at the 0.05 significant value indicating that the correlation is significant. In addition, the determination coefficient obtained is 62%. Moreover, the correlation coefficient between basketball extra-curricular activity and students’ healthy behavior obtained is 0.698 which oversteps the critical value, 0.374 at the 0.05 significant value indicating the significant correlation. In conclusion, the basketball extra-curricular program gave a positive contribution towards the students’ emotional intellegency and healthy behavior. In addition, the determination coefficient obtained is 48,7%. The researcher suggests that the basketball extra-curricular program can be maximized and developed either by supervisors or students in order to improve the students’ emotional intellegency and healthy behavior.
