Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh antara kepercayaan diri dengan
konformitas mahasiswa rantau Provinsi Riau. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan
kuantitatif, teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah probability sampling dengan
jumlah responden sebanyak 445 orang mahasiswa rantau. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini
menggunakan skala kepercayaan diri yang mengacu pada teori Lauster (1990) yang telah
diadaptasi oleh Ardari (2016) dengan jumlah aitem 77; α = 0,796 dan skala konformitas yang
mengacu pada teori Sears (1991) yang telah diadaptasi oleh Umayah (2017) dengan jumlah
aitem 25; α = 0,785. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah korelasi dengan uji spearman
rho dan menggunakan bantuan software SPSS versi 24.0 for windows. Hasil dari penelitian ini
adalah terdapat korelasi negatif yang signifikan antara kepercayaan diri dengan konformitas
pada mahasiswa. Artinya semakin tinggi kepercayaan diri maka semakin rendah konformitas,
sebaliknya semakin rendah kepercayaan diri maka semakin tinggi konformitas.
This study aims to determine the effect between self-confidence and conformity of overseas
students in Riau Province. This study uses a quantitative approach, the sampling technique
used is probability sampling with a total of 445 respondents from overseas students. The
instrument in this study uses a self-confidence scale that refers to Lauster's theory (1990) which
has been adapted by Ardari (2016) with a total of 77 items; α = 0.796 and a conformity scale
that refers to Sears' theory (1991) which has been adapted by Umayah (2017) with a total of 25
items; α = 0.785. The data analysis technique used is correlation with the Spearman Rho test
and using SPSS software version 24.0 for windows. The results of this study are that there is a
significant negative correlation between self-confidence and conformity in students. This
means that the higher the self-confidence, the lower the conformity, conversely, the lower the
self-confidence, the higher the conformity.
