Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ekspresi fatis dalam bahasa Korea menggunakan teori bentuk ekspresi fatis oleh Sangho Yoon (2012) dan fungsi ekspresi fatis oleh Wongthanasen (2009) dalam Seonmin Jeong (2011). Objek yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini adalah dialog dalam webtoon Daddy Goes To School. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode Simak-catat dari 85 episode webtoon Daddy Goes To School dan dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif-kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah total data ekspresi fatis secara keseluruhan ditemukan sebanyak 73 data. Data yang paling umum bentuk ekspresi fatis adalah bentuk ekspresi fatis memberi pujian sebanyak 15 data dan yang paling tidak umum adalah bentuk ekspresi mengatur pertemuan hanya ada tiga data. Di sisi lain, fungsi ekspresi fatis yang paling umum ditemukan adalah fungsi mencerminkan karakteristik sosial budaya sebanyak 22 data dan yang paling tidak umum ditemukan adalah fungsi keberhasilan pertukaran informasi dan komunikasi berjumlah 16 data. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian, bentuk ekspresi fatis paling mendominasi karena dalam percakapan pembicara menyampaikan suatu ungkapan dengan rasa menghargai atau mengakui hal yang baik terhadap pendengarnya. Dibandingkan dengan bentuk ekspresi fatis, fungsi pertukaran informasi ataupun komunikasi yang ditunjukkan dalam dialog webtoon Daddy Goes To School tidak terlalu diperlihatkan secara maksimal. Penelitian ini dapat diimplikasikan pada model pengembangan bahan ajar cetak bahasa Korea dan dapat bermanfaat bagi pengajar bahasa Korea tentang bagaimana fenomena ekspresi fatis dapat diimplementasikan. This research aims to investigate the usage of Korean phatic expressions in the dialogue of the webtoon "Daddy Goes To School," utilizing the theoretical frameworks of phatic expression forms in Sangho Yoon (2012) and phatic expression functions in Wongthanasen (2009) in Seonmin Jeong's work (2011). Data collection involved the note-taking method, analyzing dialogues from 85 episodes of the webtoon, and employing a descriptive-qualitative method for analysis. Overall, the total number of phatic expression forms was found to be higher than phatic expression functions. Among the phatic expression forms, the most common type was "giving-compliments" expressions, while the least common was "arranging-meeting" expressions. In contrast, the most prevalent phatic expression functions were "reflecting social characteristics" while the least common were "success exchange of information" functions. Based on the research findings, it is evident that the dominance of phatic expression form is due to the limited emphasis on the exchange of information or communication in the dialogue of the webtoon. Using phatic expression forms allows speakers to convey their intentions and abilities more expressively to the listeners, as opposed to merely employing phatic expression functions. This research holds implications for Korean language teachers as it can serve as additional teaching material to enhance their understanding of phatic expressions and their usage in real-life communication. By incorporating these findings into language instruction, teachers can help learners better grasp the nuances of Korean phatic expressions and enhance their overall communication skills.
