Abstract

Entitled The Characterization of Mark Zukerberg Character in The Social Network Movie Script, the present research aims to investigate how The Social Network movie script constructs Mark Zukerberg character as evidenced in the text. This research applied Rimmon-Kenan’s theory of characterization as a tool to answer the aim of research. The research also used qualitative descriptive method with textual analysis approach. Based on the analysis, the research found that The Social Network movie script constructs Mark Zukerberg character through several methods of characterization; those are direct characterization, indirect characterization, and characterization through analogy. In other words, the script shows Mark Zukerberg’s characterization as a round character because he is not always portrayed as a good or strength character. The research concludes that The Social Network movie script constructs Mark Zukerberg character through several methods of characterization, which are in line with Rimmon-Kenan’s theory of characterization.
