Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari permasalahan rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V sekolah dasar berdasarkan hasil pengamatan di salah satu sekolah dasar di Kota Bandung. Rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa dapat dilihat dari siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menentukan ide pokok, menjawab pertanyaan berdasarkan teks, membuat pertanyaan, menyimpulkan teks bacaan, dan menceritakan kembali bacaan dengan bahasa sendiri. Dari hasil tes evaluasi awal membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V SDN 113 Banjarsari, terdapat 19 orang dari 32 siswa yang belum mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian menggunakan model Kemmis & Mc. Taggart dalam dua siklus yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan pengamatan, refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, catatan lapangan, dan tes. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan tes evaluasi pada siklus I memperoleh nilai rata-rata kelas sebesar 81,12 dengan persentase ketuntasan belajar 78,12% dan mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II dengan nilai rata-rata kelas sebesar 87,34 dan persentase ketuntasan belajar sebesar 93,75%. Hasil penelitian tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. This research departs from the problem of the low reading comprehension skills of fifth grade elementary school students based on observations at one of the elementary schools in Bandung City. The low reading comprehension skills of students can be seen from students who have difficulty determining main ideas, answering questions based on the text, making questions, summarizing the reading texts, and retelling the reading text in their own language. From the results of the initial evaluation test for reading comprehension of fifth grade students at SDN 113 Banjarsari, there were 19 out of 32 students who had not reached the minimum completeness criteria. This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and improvement of reading comprehension skills using the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) type cooperative learning model. The research method used is the class action research method (CAR) with a research design using the Kemmis & Mc. Taggart model in two cycles consisting of planning, implementation and observation, reflection. Data collection techniques used are observation, field notes, and tests. The results of the research based on the evaluation test in cycle I obtained an average class score of 81.12 with a learning completeness percentage of 78.12% and increased in cycle II with an average class score of 87.34 and a learning completeness percentage of 93.75%. The results of this study show that the application of the CIRC type cooperative learning model can improve the reading comprehension skills of fifth grade elementary school students.
