Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemahaman konsep materi kubus dan balok ditinjau dari self-confidence pada siswa SMP. Penentuan subjek dalam penelitian ini diambil dari hasil tes angket self-confidence dan hasil tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa. Tingkat self-confidence terbagi menjadi tiga tingkatan yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan mengggunakan metode tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan self-confidence tinggi mampu memahami konsep balok dan kubus dengan memenuhi seluruh indikator yaitu: (1) menyatakan ulang suatu konsep; (2) mengklasifikasikan objek menurut sifat tertentu sesuai dengan konsepnya; (3) memberi contoh dan bukan contoh suatu konsep; (4) menyajikan konsep dalam berbagai bentuk representasi matematis; (5) mengembangkan syarat perlu atau syarat cukup dari suatu konsep; (6) menggunakan dan memanfaatkan serta memilih prosedur atau operasi tertentu; dan (7) mengaplikasikan konsep atau algoritma pada pemecahan masalah. Siswa dengan self-confidence sedang hanya dapat memenuhi tiga indikator yaitu mengklasifikasikan objek menurut sifat tertentu sesuai dengan kosepnya, menyajikan konsep dalam berbagai bentuk representasi matematis, dan mengembangkan syarat perlu atau syarat cukup dari suatu konsep. Siswa dengan self-confidence rendah hanya dapat memenuhi enam indikator yaitu menyatakan ulang suatu konsep, menyajikan konsep dalam berbagai bentuk representasi matematis, dan mengembangkan syarat perlu atau syarat cukup dari suatu konsep. Siswa dengan self-confidence rendah memenuhi satu yaitu mengklasifikasikan objek menurut sifat tertentu. This study aims to determine the ability to understand the concept of cubes and cuboids in terms of junior high school students' self-confidence. Determination of the subject in this study was taken from the results of the self-confidence questionnaire test and the results of students' conceptual understanding ability tests. The level of self-confidence is divided into three levels, namely high, medium and low. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was carried out using test, interview and documentation methods. Based on the results of the study, it was shown that students with high self-confidence were able to understand the concepts of blocks and cubes by fulfilling all indicators, namely: (1) restating a concept; (2) classify objects according to certain characteristics according to the concept; (3) giving examples and non-examples of a concept; (4) presenting concepts in various forms of mathematical representation; (5) develop the necessary or sufficient requirements of a concept; (6) use and utilize and select certain procedures or operations; and (7) apply concepts or algorithms to problem solving. Students with moderate self-confidence can only fulfill three indicators, namely classifying objects according to certain properties according to their concepts, presenting concepts in various forms of mathematical representations, and developing necessary or sufficient requirements of a concept. Students with low self-confidence only fullfill one indicators, namely classifying objects according to certain characteristics according to the concept.
