Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurang tertariknya siswa terhadap menulis paragraf deskripsi yang dianggap sulit karena membutuhkan kemampuan untuk berpikir kreatif pada siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan menulis paragraf deskripsi, mengidentifikasi faktor penghambat dalam menulis paragraf deskripsi, serta mendeskripsikan upaya yang tepat untuk mengatasi kurangnya siswa kelas IV SDN 3 Nagritengah dalam menulis paragraf deskripsi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitiannya yaitu siswa kelas IV SDN 3 Nagritengah sebanyak 22 orang. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan yaitu (1) kemampuan siswa menulis paragraf deskripsi kelas IV SDN 3 Nagritengah memperoleh nilai rata-rata yaitu 70 masuk ke dalam kategori cukup, dengan presentase 31,8% masuk ke dalam kategori baik, 36,3% masuk ke dalam kategori cukup, 13,6% masuk ke dalam kategori kurang, dan 18,1% masuk ke dalam kategori sangat kurang; (2) faktor penghambat siswa dalam menulis paragraf deskripsi yaitu kurang percaya diri, kurang tertarik untuk menulis di buku, kurang berlatih, kurangnya penguasaan kosakata baku, metode dan media kurang dikemas secara menarik, tidak kondusifnya suasana lingkungan sekolah, kurangnya bimbingan, dorongan serta pengawasan dari orang tua dalam mendampingi anak di rumah; (3) upaya yang tepat yaitu dengan memberikan dukungan untuk berlatih menulis secara rutin dan memantau anak dalam penggunaan gadget serta menggunakan media dan metode yang inovatif seperti menerapkan media pembelajaran yang berkaitan dengan ICT (Information and Communication Technology). Kata Kunci: Menulis, Paragraf Deskripsi, Siswa ----- This research was motivated by students' lack of interest in writing descriptive paragraphs which were considered difficult because they were and required the ability to think creatively in students. This study aimed at determining the ability to write descriptive paragraphs, identifying the inhibiting factors in writing descriptive paragraphs, and describing appropriate efforts to overcome the lack of fourth-grade students at SDN 3 Nagritengah in writing descriptive paragraphs. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative analysis with the research subjects being 22 students of class IV at SDN 3 Nagritengah. The results of the research that had been carried out were (1) the ability of students to write descriptive paragraphs for class IV SDN 3 Nagritengah obtained an average score of 70 in the sufficient category, with a percentage of 31.8% in the good category, 36.3% in the in the sufficient category, 13.6% fell into the less category, and 18.1% fell into the very less category; (2) students' inhibiting factors in writing descriptive paragraphs were lack of self-confidence, lack of interest in writing in books, lack of practice, lack of mastery of standard vocabulary, methods and media were not packaged in an attractive way, not conducive school environment, lack of guidance, encouragement and supervision from parents in accompanying children at home; (3) the right efforts, namely by providing support to practice writing regularly and monitoring children in using gadgets and using innovative media and methods such as applying learning media related to ICT (Information and Communication Technology).
