Abstract

Keterampilan membaca merupakan salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yang diajarkan di sekolah dasar. Membaca pemahaman merupakan keterampilan berbahasa yang diajarkan di kelas tinggi sebagai tahap perkembangan membaca lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi Question Answer Relationship (QAR) terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman dan minat baca siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan nonequivalent prates-pascates control group design. Penelitian dilaksanakam di dua sekolah negeri di wilayah Kabupaten Sumedang dengan melibatkan 60 orang siswa kelas V. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa soal tes pilihan ganda dan soal uraian untuk mengukur keterampilan membaca pemahaman, instrumen angket untuk mengukur minat baca siswa, serta lembar observasi aktivitas siswa untuk menilai aktivitas siswa selama proses pembelajaran QAR. Data penelitian diolah berdasarkan hasil prates dan pascates kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan program IBM Statistical Product and Service Solution (IBM SPSS) 25 for windows version. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran QAR berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap keterampilan membaca pemahaman dan penguasaan teori teks nonfiksi siswa. Berdasarkan hasil prates dan pascates, keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa mengalami peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 79,5 dari 54,3 setelah diterapkannya strategi pembelajaran QAR. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran QAR memiliki rata-rata skor yang lebih baik dari kelas kontrol. Hasil minat baca yang dilakukan terhadap kelas eksperimen juga menunjukkan perubahan yang positif. Hal ini dilihat dari persentase siswa yang minat bacanya tinggi, sebelum diterapkannya strategi QAR sebanyak 40% dan setelah perlakuan menjadi 76% persen. Reading skill is one of the language skills taught in elementary schools. Reading comprehension is a language skill that is taught in high school as a stage of advanced reading development. This study aims to determine the effect of the Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy on the reading comprehension skills and reading interest of fifth grade elementary school students. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent prates-pascates control group design. The research was conducted in two public schools in the Sumedang Regency area involving 60 fifth grade students. The instruments used were multiple choice test questions and essay questions to measure reading comprehension skills, a questionnaire instrument to measure students' reading interest, as well as student activity observation sheets to assess student activity during the QAR learning process. The research data were processed based on the results of the prates and pascates of the experimental class and the control class which were then analyzed using the IBM Statistical Product and Service Solution (IBM SPSS) 25 for windows version program. The results showed that the QAR learning strategy had a significant effect on students' reading comprehension skills and theoretical mastery of nonfiction texts. Based on the results of the prates and pascates, students' reading comprehension skills increased by an average of 79.5 from 54.3 after the QAR learning strategy was implemented. These results indicate that students in the experimental class using the QAR learning strategy have a better average score than the control class. The results of reading interest in the experimental class also showed positive changes. This can be seen from the percentage of students with high interest in reading, before the implementation of the QAR strategy was 40% and after the treatment it was 76%.
