Abstract

Adolescence is a vulnerable period of changing social-emotional attitudes, as it is a stage of developmental transition between children and adults that can affect physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes. At this time, adolescents are highly vulnerable to the influence of their social and emotional environment.The aim of this study was to examine the characteristics and dynamics of socio-emotional competence in middle school students. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research methods. Her four students from Cirebon City Public Junior High School 3 in the 2021/2022 school year participated in this study. As a result, junior high school students understand social care, adapt well to their environment, develop self-confidence, understand their emotions, manage their emotions well, and direct themselves toward goals beyond their capabilities. Can be pushed, cohesive, grouped, and well aware of group states. Guidance and counseling service activities are aimed at improving the social and emotional skills of adolescent students by trying new things in a more familiar and broad social environment.
