Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kemampuan siswa sekolah dasar pada kelas IV dalam berpikir kritis. Kekurangan tersebut diantaranya kemampuan siswa dalam mengembangkan idenya, belum bisa menuliskan hasil dari pemahamannya sendiri, dan cara siswa dalam berkomunikasipun masih rendah, serta kurangnya kemampuan guru dalam mengkondisikan suatu pembelajaran agar menjadi pembelajaran yang menarik dan juga kritis, karena kurang mampunya menguasai model pembelajaran yang ada. Hal tersebut tidak menutup kemungkinan pembelajaran IPS menjadi kurang menarik untuk siwa, karena siswa tidak dilibatkan langsung dalam pembelajarannya sehingga ketika pembelajaran berlangsung siswa kurang aktif dan kurang mampu mengembangkan cara berpikir kritisnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui, menelaah, dan mengkaji penerapan model Think-Talk-Write dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar pada pembelajaran IPS di kelas IV SDN Kutamukti III. Metode yang digunakan yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan desain John Elliot yang berlangsung 3 siklus dan setiap siklusnya terdiri dari 2 tindakan, meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi, lembar wawancara, catatan lapangan, lembar tes evalusi kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan dokumentasi. Hasil yang diperoleh ditunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Think Talk Write dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa telah berhasil dengan ditunjukkan adanya peningkatatan setiap siklusnya. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan penerapan model Think Talk Write pada Pembelajaran IPS dengan Materi Keragaman Sosial Budaya Indonesia di kelas IV SDN Kutamukti III untuk kemampuan berpikir kritisnya meningkat dengan baik. ------ This research is motivated by the lack of ability of elementary school students fourth grade in critical thinking. These shortcomings include the ability of students to develop their ideas, not being able to write the results of their own understanding, and the way students communicate is still low, as well as the lack of teacher ability to condition learning so that learning is interesting and critical, because they are less able to master the existing learning model. This being not rule out the possibility of social studies learning to be less interesting for students, students are not directly involved in their learning so that when learning takes place they are less able to develop their critical thinking. The purpose of this study was to determine, analyze, and study the application of the Think-Talk-Write model in improving the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in social studies lesning in class IV at SDN Kutamukti III. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Kemmis and Mc Taggart design which lasts 3 cycles and each cycle consists of 2 actions, including planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The instruments used are observation sheets, interview sheets, field notes, critical thinking ability evaluation test sheets, and documentation. The results obtained show that the application of the Think Talk Write model in improving critical thinking skills has been successful indicated an increase in each cycle. That with the application of the Think Talk Write model in social studies learning with the material on Indonesian socio-cultural diversity in class IV at SDN Kutamukti III, their critical thinking skills will improve well.
