Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar mekanika yang mampu meningkatkan representasi verbal, matematis, gambar, dan grafis mahasiswa calon guru fisika dan mengetahui tingkat keterbacaan, kegrafikkan, dan kelayakan isi bahan ajar tersebut. Dalam melakukan penelitian, ada dua kegiatan uji coba, yaitu uji coba sampel kecil dan uji coba sampel besar. Uji coba sampel besar dilakukan setelah melakukan penyempurnaan-penyempurnaan uji coba sampel kecil yang dilakukan secara bertahap mulai dari draf bab 2 sampai dengan draf bab 7. Uji coba dengan sampel kecil dan sampel besar dilakukan untuk menyelidiki draf bahan ajar mekanika hasil pengembangan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan representasi verbal, matematis, gambar, dan grafis mahasiswa calon guru fisika yang implementasinya dengan rancangan penelitian eksperimen the one group pretest-posttest. Responden uji coba sampel kecil adalah 26 orang mahasiswa calon guru fisika, sedangkan responden uji coba sampel besar adalah 102 orang mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Kekhasan bahan ajar ini antara lain: disajikan dengan format-format representasi verbal, matematis, gambar, dan grafik dengan jelas dan berimbang; contoh-contoh soalnya juga disajikan dengan format-format representasi verbal, matematis, gambar, dan grafik secara berimbang; dan tampilan matematiknya sederhana (tidak terlalu rumit), namun tidak mengaburkan esensi konsep fisikanya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) dengan menggunakan uji rumpang, bahan ajar mekanika hasil pengembangan memiliki keterbacaan yang tinggi, 2) berdasarkan analisis angket terhadap pakar fisika dan dosen fisika dikatakan bahwa kegrafikaan, kelayakan isi, berkatagori tinggi, 3) bahan ajar mekanika dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis mahasiswa pada tingkat katagori tinggi dan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi verbal, gambar, dan grafik mahasiswa calon guru fisika pada tingkat katagori sedang. This study was conducted to develop learning materials that can improve the mechanics representation ability of verbal, mathematical, figure, and graphics students of physics teacher candidates and to determine the level of readability, graphication, and feasibility of the contents of learning materials. In conducting the study, there were two experimental activities, namely the small and large sample test. Large sample test was conducted after improvements in small sample trials that conducted in stages starting from the draft chapter 2, up to the draft chapter 7. Trials with small sample and large sample were conducted to investigate the draft of mechanics learning materials development in improving the representation of verbal, mathematical, figure, and graphics students of physics teacher candidates. Design that used to implement the research was the one group pretest-posttest. Respondents that used for small sample were 26 students, while the respondents of the large sample were 102 students. The specificity of these learning materials are: the formats are presented with verbal, mathematical, figure, and graphics representation with clear and balanced; examples of problem or queations are also presented by the formats of verbal, mathematical, images, and graphics representation in a balanced way, and display simple mathematical (not too complicated), but does not obscure the essence of the concept of physics. The results showed: 1) by using a test hiatus, the development of mechanics learning materials have a high readability, 2) based on analysis of questionnaires to some physicists and physics lecturers said that graphical and the feasibility of content in the learning materials are high categorised, and 3) The mechanics learning materials can enhance the ability of mathematical representation of students at high-level category and can enhance the ability of verbal, figure, and graphics representations students at the category of being.
