    Abstract

This paper deals with a descriptive analysis of a screenplay for a rnovie entitled Crash by Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco using the framework of postcdonial theory. It is aimed at investigating the way racism and, more particularly, white supremacy represented in the text through the binary opposition of the oppressed and the oppressor in Postcolonial theory. The main purpose of this analysis is to see whether the story predominantly addresses the issue of racism and tolerance or the perpetuation of racial stereotypes.
The analysis was conducted through close reading method. In guiding the analysis to the purpose of this analysis, the researcher initially introduced all the characters involved to show their roles in the story, listed down the conflicts that occurred, and the characters' strategies in coping with the conflicts. The conflicts which based the analysis were all racially inflicted. Meanwhile, the coping strategies were identified from the shifts from the climax to the anti-climax in the story.
Through the analysis, it is concluded that white supremacy denotes the system of belief that has a power to destroy from the inside. People who live in a society like America and refuse to be silent about it actually are actually perpetuating its materialization. Crash only becomes a medium through which people can see the image of whiteness and how it hanns the social life. To prevent the society from forming the surplus of "others", they should examine their own prejudice and think of how they can take action in enforcing racial justice because that is what living in a mosaic-styled society is all about.
