Abstract
This research aims to analyze and describe the effect of implementing learning with an open ended approach and problem posing on the acquisition and improvement of students' mathematical critical thinking skills.The method in this research is quantitative with the type of Quasi Experiment and descriptive with a population of all students' mathematical critical thinking skills in grades IV A and IV B at one of the SDIT in Garut and the samples are mathematical critical thinking ability of students in grades IV A and IV B as many as 40 students. The conclusions in this research are (i) the open ended approach and problem posing affect students' mathematical critical thinking skills, (ii) there is no significant difference in the effect of the implementation of the open ended approach with problem posing on the acquisition of students' mathematical critical thinking skills, (iii) This approach is also proven to improve students' mathematical critical thinking skills, this is obtained based on the N-gain test that has been carried out where the N-gain scores for the open ended approach and problem posing are 0.51 and 0.67, which are included in the middle category.
