Abstract

Abstract: The 21st century competency framework states that a learning process is not only sufficient to increase knowledge but must be equipped with creative abilities. Humans who have the ability to think creatively and communucation. d. One of the efforts to improve learning activities is by utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource for students, by connecting the material to be taught with real situations or conditions. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of students' creative thinking skills and communication skills through the application of contextual learning approaches in social studies learning, with Expositori learning. This study uses a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method. The results of the study: 1) There are significant differences in the creative thinking and communication skills of students who are taught using a contextual learning approach and an Expositori learning approach in social studies lessons in Class IV SDN Prapatan I, Sumber Jaya District, Majalengka Regency. This is shown in the results of tcount = 6.111 and ttable = 1.990, namely tcount > ttable, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. 2) There is an influence on the creative thinking ability of students who are taught with a contextual learning approach in social studies lessons in Class IV SDN Prapatan I, Sumber Jaya District, Majalengka Regency. This can be seen from the test results using the t-test where tcount > ttable that is 3.710 > 2.021. 3) There is an influence on the communication skills of students who are taught with a contextual learning approach in social studies lessons in Class IV SDN Prapatan I, Sumber Jaya District, Majalengka Regency. This can be seen from the test results using the t-test where tcount < ttable ie - 5,111 < -2,021. Conclusion: that in social studies learning after using the CTL approach showed an increase in the experimental class. This is evident from the results of individual and group evaluations for each action. In learning activities the teacher must present several methods or approaches in learning. The use of the CTL approach is very good if implemented in elementary schools as a renewal in learning, because it helps teachers in the learning process, the learning process becomes better and learning is more meaningful for students. By using the CTL approach, all students become active and creative when learning takes place because students are direKontekstualy involved in learning activities.
