Abstract
This research aims to determine the levels and factors that affect proportional reasoning skills according to Langrall and Swafford in junior high school students. This research is a qualitative descriptive analysis conducted on class VIII students at SMP Negeri 13 Bandung for the 2020/2021 academic year. The data collection technique was carried out by giving tests to 25 students. Then do an interview. The results of the research of students being able to work on comparative questions of value and turning value by being able to do proportional reasoning according to Langrall and Swafford at level 2 and level 3. Furthermore, the factors that affect proportional reasoning abilities according to Langrall and Swafford in students are how students can remember the material that has been taught. previously, how the teacher taught the material and how the facilities provided by the parents of students. Based on the results of the study, it shows that students can work on comparative questions by being able to do proportional reasoning according to Langrall and Swafford at level 2 and level 3 and the factors that affect proportional reasoning abilities according to Langrall and Swafford students are internal factors (such as motivation, interests, talents, and abilities to understand mathematics learning) and external factors (such as the facilities provided to students and the way teachers teach students).
