Abstract

Tidak semua lapisan masyarakat dapat menerima anggapan perempuan bisa berkarya di profesi mayoritas didominasi oleh laki-laki, khususnya olahraga. Keterlibatan perempuan dalam olahraga seringkali menempatkan perempuan dalam posisi yang kurang beruntung. Perempuan yang terlibat dalam bidang olahraga, kerap kali mengalami tantangan-tantangan unik. Untuk melepaskan diri dari tantangan-tantangan unik tersebut, perempuan juga melakukan upaya-upaya. Tujuan penelitian mengetahui tantangan-tantangan dan upaya-upaya yang dilakukan guru pendidikan jasmani perempuan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah fenomenologi. Partisipan dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling sebanyak dua orang. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa perempuan yang bekerja disektor yang didominasi laki-laki mengalami tantangan-tantangan unik, dan menemukan upaya-upaya untuk mengatasi tantangan-tantangan tersebut. Not all levels of society can accept the notion that women can work in professions that are predominantly dominated by men, especially sports. Even though gender equality has been widely promoted, women's involvement in sports often puts women in a disadvantaged position. Women who are involved in sports, often experience unique challenges. To escape from these unique challenges, women also make coping mechanisms. The research objective is to find out the challenges and coping mechanisms made by female physical education teachers. The research method used is phenomenology. Two participants were selected using purposive sampling technique. This study found that women who work in male-dominated sectors experience unique challenges, and find ways to overcome these challenges.
