Abstract

At this time, the education circles and the community, some of them think that museums are places of recreation, which are places for storing historical items, where the objects that are stored are related to various historical events. The author conducted this research starting from what is seen in reality in the field regarding the use of less varied learning resources in social studies learning. This research was conducted to describe the use of museums as a relevant learning resource if it is related to some of the many materials in social studies learning, especially in historical material or content. This study used a qualitative approach and descriptive methods, the implementation of the research took place at the Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi Museum. Data collection techniques in this study using observation techniques interviews , and documentation studies. Based on the research findings, the collection of the Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi Museum is relevant to learning resources in junior high school social studies learning. The basic competencies in social studies learning are by the collection of the Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi Museum, namely: Basic Competencies 3.4 and 4.4 (Conditions of Indonesian Society in the Colonial Period) Class VIII Semester two. The values contained in the collection of the Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi Museum are the values of struggle, courage, nationalism, exemplary care, and mutual cooperation. The form of use of the museum collection is for the social studies learning process, it can use interactive discussion and lecture models, example the use of pop-ups regarding museum collections that are adjusted for their relevance to learning materials made by teachers as learning resources as well as learning media for students, making slide pictures museum collections from teacher observations to museums. Apart from that, the teacher can also invite students to reflect by making educational games that are still related to collections and learning materials.
