Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah keprihatinan peneliti dengan kondisi sering ditemuinya tumpukan sampah plastik di lingkungan sekitar SMPN 2 Tanjung Redeb dan kelas VIII.D yang disebabkan peserta didik kurang peduli peserta didik dalam mengurangi penggunaan kemasan plastik. Kondisi lainnya adalah interaksi belajar IPS di kelas yang bersifat satu arah dan belum memanfaatkan video sebagai media pembelajaran IPS. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bermaksud memanfaatkan video sampah plastik sebagai media pembelajaran IPS untuk meningkatkan kompetensi kesadaran lingkungan kreatif peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan model spiral. Ketiga siklus menggunakan Project Based Learning. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peneliti dan guru mitra telah merancang dan melaksanakan pembelajaran dengan baik selama tiga siklus, serta mampu mengupayakan untuk mengatasi setiap kendala. Data hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan nilai rata-rata kompetensi kesadaran lingkungan kreatif peserta didik dari siklus satu sebesar 84 dengan kategori cukup baik, disiklus kedua sebesar 87 dengan kategori baik, dan ketiga yaitu sebesar 90 dengan kategori baik. Semua aspek kompetensi kesadaran lingkungan mengalami peningkatan nilai di setiap siklus. Dengan demikian hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui pemanfaatan video sampah plastik sebagai media pembelajaran IPS dapat meningkatkan kompetensi kesadaran lingkungan kreatif peserta didik. The background of this research is the concern of researchers with the condition of frequent encounters of plastic waste piles in the environment around SMPN 2 Tanjung Redeb and class VIII.D because students do not care about students in reducing the use of plastic packaging. Another condition is the social studies learning interaction at class which is one-way and has not used video as a social studies learning medium. Therefore, this study intends to utilize plastic waste videos as a social studies learning medium to increase students' creative environmental awareness competences. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research with a spiral model. The three cycles use Project Based Learning. The results showed that the researcher and partner teachers had designed and implemented the learning well for three cycles, and were able to try to overcome any obstacles. The research data shows an increase in the average value of students' creative environmental awareness competence from cycle one of 84 with a fairly good category, in the second cycle of 87 with a good category, and the third of 90 with a good category. All aspects of environmental awareness competencies experience an increase in value in each cycle. Thus the results of the study show that through the use of plastic waste videos as a social studies learning medium, it can increase students' creative environmental awareness competences.
