Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengalaman guru dalam menghadapi tantangan dalam mengimplementasikan kurikulum 2013. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian naratif dan pengumpulan data menggunakan kerangka naratif, kotak kosong naratif, dan wawancara. Penelitian ini melibatkan tiga guru bahasa Inggris di sekolah menengah pertama. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris menghadapi beberapa tantangan dalam mengimplementasikan kurikulum bahasa Inggris 2013. Ada tujuh aspek tantangan dalam implementasi kurikulum 2013 di sekolah menengah pertama. Tantangan yang dihadapi guru antara lain (1) Kemampuan dalam menggunakan perangkat TIK, (2) Penerapan pendekatan saintifik dalam proses belajar mengajar, (3) Kemampuan dalam memilih media yang tepat dalam penyampaian materi bahasa Inggris, (4) ) Minimnya pelatihan kurikulum yang dilaksanakan oleh pemerintah, (5) Kemampuan siswa yang berbeda-beda, (6) Rendahnya motivasi siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris dan, (7) Keterbatasan buku yang disediakan oleh Pemerintah. Setiap guru juga memiliki cara mereka sendiri untuk mengatasi tantangan tersebut. Tantangan dan cara guru mengatasi tantangan tersebut didasarkan pada pengalaman guru saat mengajar di sekolah menengah pertama. The study aims to find out teachers’ experiences in facing challenges in implementing the 2013 curriculum. The design of this study is narrative inquiry and the data are gained by using narrative frame, narrative empty box, and interview. The study involved three English teachers in junior high school. The findings show that English teachers face some challenges in implementing English of 2013 curriculum. There are seven aspects of challenges in implementing 2013 curriculum in junior high school. The challenges that teachers were dealing with (1) The abilities in using ICT tools, (2) The implementation of the scientific approach in the teaching and learning process, (3) The ability in choosing the right media in delivering English material, (4) The lack of curriculum training which conducted by the government, (5) Students’ different abilities, (6) Students’ low motivation in learning English and, (7) The limitation of the Government-provided book. Each teacher also has their own ways of addressing these challenges. The challenges and teachers’ way of addressing the challenges are based on the teachers’ experience while teaching at junior high school.
