Abstract

Dampak negatif yang diakibatkan oleh perkembangan IPTEK pada abad 21 menjadikan setiap indvidu perlu untuk memiliki kemampuan literasi sains. Namun, jika melihat hasil PISA menunjukkan siswa indonesia memiliki kemampuan literasi sains yang belum maksimal. Maka dari itu perlu diidentifikasi lebih lanjut tentang faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Status sosial ekonomi (SSE) merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi. Terkait SSE, PISA hanya mengidentifikasi latar belakang pendidikan orangtua pada tingkat pendidikannya saja, maka untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut mengenai pengaruh pendidikan orangtua terhadap literasi sains siswa. Peneliti mengembangkan angket terkait jurusan pendidikan dan bidang pekerjaan orangtua. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui profil kemampuan literasi sains, SSE, latar belakang pendidikan ortu, hubungan literasi sains dan SSE, serta hubungan literasi sains dan latar belakang pendidikan orang tua. Metode penelitian yang digunakan deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian yakni 48 siswa kelas VI Sekolah Dasar swasta di Kecamatan Cileungsi. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yakni tes literasi sains, angket sikap literasi sains, angket SSE, dan angket latar belakang pendidikan orang tua. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa mayoritas kemampuan literasi sains berada pada level 1a, SSE berada pada kategori sedang, latar belakang pendidikan orang tua mayoritas berjurusan dan bidang pekerjaan relevan sains untuk siswa level 2, bidang bahasa untuk level 1a, dan bidang sosial untuk level 1b. Selanjutnya, terdapat hubungan yang sangat kuat antara kemampuan literasi sains dan SSE. Lebih jauh, juga terdapat hubungan yang kuat antara kemampuan literasi sains dan latar belakang pendidikan orang tua. ----- The negative impact caused by the development of science and technology in the 21st century makes every individuals need to have scientific literacy skills. However, if you look at the PISA results, it shows that Indonesian students have less than optimal scientific literacy skills. Therefore, it is necessary to further identify the factors that influence it. Socioeconomic status (SSE) is one of the influencing factors. Regarding SSE, PISA only identifies the educational background of parents at the educational level, so to find out more about the effect of parental education on students' scientific literacy. Researchers developed a questionnaire related to the education department and the field of parent's work. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of scientific literacy skills, SSE, parents' educational background, the relationship between scientific literacy and SSE, as well as the relationship between scientific literacy and parental educational background. The research method used is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The subjects in the study were 48 students of class VI private elementary schools in Cileungsi District. The research instruments used were a scientific literacy test, a scientific literacy attitude questionnaire, an SSE questionnaire, and a questionnaire on the educational background of parents. The results of the study stated that the majority of scientific literacy skills were at level 1a, SSE was in the medium category, the majority of parents' educational background was in the field of science relevant work for level 2 students, language field for level 1a, and social field for level 1b. Furthermore, there is a very strong relationship between scientific literacy skills and SSE. Furthermore, there is also a strong relationship between scientific literacy skills and the educational background of parents.
