Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perkembangan kosakata bahasa Inggris pada anak usia 5-6 tahun melalui metode Total Physical Response (TPR). Kosakata yang diterapkan berupa kosakata dasar dan kosakata khusus dengan media sederhana flashcard untuk menjelaskan. Maka Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian Subjek Tunggal (Single Subject Research) desain penelitian A1-B-A2 yaitu baseline A1, Intervensi dan Baseline A2. Subjek penelitian adalah lima orang anak usia 5-6 tahun terdiri dari 3 anak laki-laki dan 2 anak perempuan. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah pedoman observasi pembelajaran dan tes unjuk kerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perkembangan kosakata anak sebelum dan setelah pemberian treatment pembelajaran dengan metode (Total Physical Response) TPR mengalami peningkatan secara signifikan. Sebelum diberikan treatment (pada fase baseline A-1) perkembangan kosakata bahasa Inggris berada pada tingkat presentase sangat rendah. Dan setelah diberikan treatment (fase Baseline A-2) perkembangan kosakata bahasa Inggris berada pada tingkat presentase kategori baik. Sehingga dapat ditarik sebuah kesimpulan bahwa metode TPR efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan kosakata bahasa Inggris pada anak usia 5-6 tahun. This study aims to determine the development of English vocabulary in children aged 5-6 years through the Total Physical Response (TPR) method. This study uses a single subject research method (Single Subject Research) with the research design used is the A1-B –A2 design. The research subjects were five children aged 5-6 years consisting of 2 boys and 3 girls. The instruments in this study were learning observation guidelines and performance tests. The results showed that the development of children's vocabulary before and after giving treatment in the form of learning with the TPR method increased significantly. Before being given treatment (in the baseline phase A-1) the development of English vocabulary was at a very low percentage level. And after being given treatment (Baseline A-2 phase), the development of English vocabulary is at the good category percentage level. So that it can be concluded that the TPR method is effective in developing English vocabulary skills in children aged 5-6 years.
