Abstract
Penelitian ini didasarkan pada hasil jawaban siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal kemampuan komunikasi materi luas bangun datar di kelas IV. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, peneliti tertarik melakukan penelitian mengenai kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar pada penyelesaian soal luas bangun datar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan bagaimana kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar pada materi luas bangun datar dan apakah faktor mempengaruhi kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi luas bangun datar secara lengkap dan mendalam. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SDN I Geyongan dengan melibatkan siswa dan guru kelas IV. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes, wawancara dan dokumentasi hasil kerja siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar pada materi luas bangun datar dimiliki oleh sebagian besar siswa. Ada tiga indikator yang diteliti, dua indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis telah dimiliki oleh siswa yaitu menghubungkan benda nyata, gambar, atau diagram ke dalam ide matematika dan menggunakan istilah, notasi, atau simbol matematika dan strukturnya untuk menyajikan ide. Sedangkan indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang tidak muncul yaitu menjelaskan idea, situasi dan relasi matematik atau symbol matematika dengan bahasa sehari-hari secara lisan atau tulisan. This research is based on the results of students' answers in solving the problem of communication skills in the flat area material in class IV. Based on this, the researcher is interested in conducting research on the mathematical communication skills of fourth grade elementary school students on solving area problems. The purpose of this study was to describe how the mathematical communication skills of fourth grade elementary school students on the area of flat shapes and whether the factors affect mathematical communication skills. The research method used is descriptive qualitative to determine the mathematical communication skills of students on the broad material of flat shapes completely and deeply. This research was conducted in Geyongan 1 Elementary School involving students and class IV teachers. Data collection techniques used were tests, interviews and documentation of student work. The results showed that the mathematical communication skills of the fourth grade elementary school students on the flat area material were owned by most of the students. There are three indicators studied, two indicators of mathematical communication skills possessed by students, namely connecting real objects, pictures, or diagrams into mathematical ideas and using mathematical terms, notations, or symbols and their structures to present ideas. Meanwhile, indicators of mathematical communication skills that do not appear are explaining ideas, situations and mathematical relations or mathematical symbols in everyday language orally or in writing.
