Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi pada pembelajaran tematik yang dilakukan di kelas IV SDN Sukadanau 01 Kecamatan Cikarang Barat Kota Bekasi. Pada kegiatan pembelajaran peneliti menemukan bahwa masih kurangnya pemahaman konsep yang dimiliki oleh siswa pada materi yang diajarkan. Bagi beberapa siswa yang pasif menjadikan pembelajaran hanya bersifat satu arah, sehingga siswa kurang menggali ilmu lebih dalam lagi dan didalam proses pembelajaran diarahkan kepada kemampuan anak untuk menghafal informasi sedangkan otak siswa tersebut dipaksa untuk mengingat dan menimbun berbagai informasi tanpa dituntut untuk memahami informasi yang sudah dipelajarinya. Hal-hal yang telah diungkapkan di atas bisa ditingkatkan dengan menemukan model pembelajaran yang tepat. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dirasa mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa adalah dengan menerapkan model Cooperative Learning Tipe Numbered Head Together. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemahaman konsep siswa pada pembelajaran tematik setelah diterapkan model Cooperative Learning Tipe Numbered Head Together. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus. Subyek peneliti berjumlah 25 siswa. Instrument yang digunakan berupa lembar posttest, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa dan lembar prettest untuk mengetahui hasil pemahaman konsep siswa. Temuan saat penelitian yaitu pemahaman konsep siswa meningkat pada setiap siklusnya, hal ini terbukti pada siklus I keberhasilah tes pemahaman konsep siswa sebesar 76% dan pada siklus II menjadi 100%. Dengan demikian kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan model Cooperative Learning Tipe Numbered Head Together dalam pembelajaran tematik dapat meningkatkan keterampilan pemahaman konsep siswa di sekolah dasar. The background of the research is the observation result of thematic learning which is done by fourth grade of Sukadanau 01 elementary school in Cikarang Barat, Bekasi. In learning activity, the researcher found that there was still a lack of comprehension of the students about the material had been taught. Some passive students make learning in class become passive, so they don’t really understand the lessons and in the process of learning they were just commanded to memorize the information in the process of learning instead of understand what they had learned. The things that stated above can be increased by finding an appropriate learning method. One appropriate method which is able to increase the student’s comprehension concept is applying Numbered Head Together in Cooperative Learning. The purpose of the research in to find the students comprehension concept for thematic after Numbered Head Together Cooperative Learning applied. The method of the research is Classroom Action Research; this research consists of two cycles. The subject of the research is twenty five students. The material which is used are posttest paper, student activities observation paper and pretest paper to find the students comprehension concept. The finding of the research is the student’s comprehension concept increased in every cycle; it is approved with 76 % increasing of student’s comprehension in the first cycle and become 100% in the second cycle. In conclusion the application of Numbered Head Together Cooperative Learning in thematic lesson can increase student’s comprehension concept in elementary school.
