Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masalah rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa memecahkan masalah dalam pembelajaran IPS di SMP Pasundan 2 Bandung kelas VII F. Beranjak dari masalah tersebut penulis tertarik ingin meneliti masalah. Melihat latar belakang masalah tersebut penulis ingin menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) dalam pembelajaran IPS. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memperbaiki dan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa melalui model problem based learning (PBL) dalam pembelajaran IPS. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan keberhasilan model yang diterapkan dalam pembelajaran IPS, Peningkatan Berpikir Kritis Siswa pada siklus pertama dengan presentase 75% dan peningkatan berpikir kritis siswa pada siklus kedua dengan presentase 83%. Hasil tersebut menggambarkan bahwa siswa kritis, penerapan model problem based learning (PBL) dalam pembelajaran IPS dinyatakan berhasil. This research is motivated by the problem of the low critical thinking skills of students solving problems in social studies learning in Bandung Pasundan 2 Middle School class VII F. Moving on from these problems the authors are interested in examining the problem. Seeing the background of the problem the author wants to apply problem-based learning to the problem based learning (PBL) learning model in social studies learning. The purpose of this study is to improve and improve students' critical thinking skills through the problem based learning (PBL) model in social studies learning. The results of this study indicate the success of the model applied in social studies learning, the increase in Critical Thinking of Students in the first cycle with a percentage of 75% and improvement of students' critical thinking in the second cycle with a percentage of 83%. These results illustrate that students are critical, the application of the problem based learning (PBL) model in social studies learning is declared successful.
