Abstract

Autistic children generally experience impairments in behaviour, one of which is self-stimulatory behaviour. This behaviour may disrupt themselves or people around them. The objective of this research is to observe the effect of using LEGO play in reducing self-stimulatory behaviour (stimming) in an autistic child at SPLB-C YPLB Bandung. To achieve the research objective, the researcher uses the Single Subject Research (SSR) approach to the experimental method. The research design used is the A-B-A Design, that is, A-1 (baseline-1), B (intervention), and A-2 (baseline-2). Data analysis in this research uses visual analysis in condition and visual analysis between conditions. Results after administering intervention using LEGO play show a reduction in self-stimulatory behaviour in the subject. This may be seen in the results, which show that in the baseline-1 (A1) phase the maximum frequency of self-stimulatory behaviour occurring was 50 times with a duration of 117 seconds, in the intervention (B) phase the maximum frequency of self-stimulatory behaviour was 16 times with a duration of 47 seconds, and in the repeat baseline-2 (A2) phase the maximum frequency of self-stimulatory behaviour was 31 times with a duration of 75 seconds. Thus, it may be concluded that the use of LEGO play could reduce self-stimulatory behaviour in an autistic student at SPLB-C YPLB Bandung.
