Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa, dan pencapaian habits of mind siswa setelah belajar dengan menggunakan pendekatan CPA (Concrete Pictorial Abstract). Tujuan lainnya adalah untuk memperoleh gambaran kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal kemampuan representasi matematis pada pendekatan CPA dan untuk memperoleh gambaran habits of mind siswa pada pendekatan CPA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian campuran (mix method) dengan desain sequential explanatory. Subjek penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Tangerang, Banten. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas satu kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas control yang dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian terdiri atas tes, lembar catatan lapangan pedoman wawancara, angket, dan dokumen pekerjaan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) Pencapaian kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan CPA lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan saintifik; (2) Pencapaian habits of mind siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan CPA lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan saintifik; (3) Peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan CPA lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan saintifik; (4) Kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal kemampuan representasi matematis pada pendekatan CPA dibagi kedalam siswa dengan skor tertinggi dan terendah, siswa dengan skor tertinggi pada masing-masing butir soal tampak mudah dalam pengerjaannya, sementara siswa dengan skor terendah pada masing-masing butir soal tampat mengalami kesulitan dalam pengerjaannya (5) Habits of mind siswa pada pendekatan CPA termasuk kategori kuat. The goals of this research are to obtain the achievement and improvement of students 'mathematical representation abilities, and the achievement of students' habits of mind after learning using the CPA (Concrete Pictorial Abstract) approach. Another goal is to get a picture of students 'difficulties in solving the ability of mathematical representation on the CPA approach and to obtain an overview of students' habits of mind in the CPA approach. The method used in this study is a mixed research method (mix method) with sequential explanatory design. The study subject was all seventh grade students in one of the State Junior High Schools in Kabupaten Tangerang , Banten. The research sample consisted of one experimental class and one control class selected based on purposive sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of tests, field notes, interview guidelines, questionnaires, and student work documents. The results showed that (1) the achievement of mathematical representation abilities of students who study with the CPA approach is better than students who study with a scientific approach; (2) Achieving the habits of mind of students who study with the CPA approach is better than students who study with a scientific approach; (3) Increasing the mathematical representation ability of students who study with the CPA approach is better than students who study with a scientific approach; (4) Students' difficulties in solving mathematical representation ability problems in the CPA approach are divided into students with the highest and lowest scores, students with the highest scores on each item seem easy to work on, while students with the lowest scores on each item appear experiencing difficulties in the process (5) Habits of mind of students in the CPA approach are included in the strong category.
