Abstract

Pendidikan lebih dipahami masyarakat dengan bersekolah. Berbagai persepsi muncul dalam masyarakat mengenai menempuh persekolahan khususnya dari kalangan ekonomi menengah ke atas lebih memilih mengolah lahan warisan keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) Mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis persepsi masyarakat mengenai persekolahan khususnya jenjang sekolah menengah atas di Cihanjuang Rahayu; 2) Mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis faktor yang memengaruhi persepsi masyarakat terhadap pendidikan; 3) Menganalisis upaya yang dilakukan sekolah untuk membangun persepsi masyarakat terhadap pendidikan formal (bersekolah). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Hasil dari penelitian ini, dapat diketahui bahwa 1) Banyak masyarakat yang menganggap bahwa bersekolah dan melanjutkan ke jenjang sekolah menengah atas itu penting, tetapi ada pula yang beranggapan bahwa sekolah tidak menjamin untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan lebih baik dan ada anggapan bahwa buat apa bersekolah jika pada akhirnya laki-laki hanya menjadi kuli dan perempuan kembali mengurus pekerjaan di sumur dan dapur; 2) Faktor yang memengaruhi persepsi masyarakat untuk bersekolah berasal dari faktor internal (kesadaran dalam diri, latar belakang pendidikan keluarga, kondisi ekonomi keluarga) dan faktor eksternal (lingkungan, lokasi sekolah, kualitas sekolah); 3) Upaya yang dilakukan pihak sekolah dalam membangun persepsi masyarakat untuk bersekolah dengan melakukan berbagai pendekatan yakni pendekatan langsung pada masyarakat, partisipasi warga sekolah dan alumni, pendekatan pada tokoh masyarakat, transparansi biaya pendidikan, mengadakan dan berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan masyarakat, serta pemberian tambahan keterampilan pada peserta didik. Various perceptions that arise in the community about schooling especially from the middle to high economic prefer to cultivate the land family. This research aims to 1) Describe and analyze the public perception regarding the schooling especially secondary school level in Cihanjuang Rahayu; 2) Identify and analyze the factors that influence the public perception of education; 3) Analyze the efforts made by the school to build the public perception of formal education (schooling). This study used a qualitative approach with case study method. The results of this study, it can be seen that 1) A lot of people who think that school and continue on to secondary school level is important, but some thought that the school does not guarantee getting a better job, and it was thought the school does not guarantee to get a better job, and it was thought that why go to school if at the end only be a male worker and a female only be returned take care of the job in the wells and kitchen; 2) Factors that affect the public's perception of school comes from internal factors (self awareness, family educational background, family economic conditions) and external factors (environment, the location of the school, the quality of schools); 3) Efforts made by the school in building public perception to attend school by doing a direct approach to the public, the participation of the school community and alumni, approach the community leaders, the transparency of the cost of education, holding and participation in community activities, as well as the provision of additional skills in learners.
