Abstract

Mempelajari teks cerita pendek tidak hanya membuat kita terhibur dan turut berkelana dengan imajinasi-imajinasi kreatif, tetapi juga dapat mengajarkan nilai-nilai kehidupan. Kebermanfaatan cerita pendek dalam kehidupan menjadi dasar bagi pentingnya mempelajari cerita pendek dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di sekolah. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh metode bermain peran dalam pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara melalui teks cerita pendek. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif jenis metode eksperimen kuasi dengan desain non-equivalent control group design. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas XI SMAN 14 Bandung dengan subjek penelitian kelas XI IPA-1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA-2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Pemilihan metode bermain peran dalam penelitian ini karena membantu peserta didik menemukan makna pribadi dalam dunia sosial dengan cara memainkan peran dalam situasi permasalahan. Kemudian metode ini dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dengan melibatkan sikap dan nilai-nilai kehidupan. Hal ini sejalan dengan fungsi cerita pendek yaitu mengandung hikmah atau nilai yang bias kita petik dibalik perilaku tokoh ataupun di antara kejadian-kejadiannya. Temuan dari penelitian ini berdasarkan perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa diperoleh nilai rata-rata prates kelas eksperimen adalah 44 dan pascates 85, sedangkan kelas kontrol nilai rata-rata prates adalah 38 dan pascates 72. Selain itu, berdasarkan uji hipotesis menggunakan Mann-Whitney hasil data kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dapat dilihat pada kolom Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) bahwa nilai signifikansinya adalah 0,000. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak karena hasil signifikansinya < 0,05 (0,000<0,05). Sehingga dapat disimpulkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan keterampilan berbicara melalui teks cerpen yang menggunakan metode bermain peran di kelas eksperimen dengan yang tidak menggunakan metode tersebut di kelas kontrol. ..... Short stories has many functions for the reader. Short stories not only give an entertain and build an unlimited imagination, but also can teach the values of life in order to learn the meaning of the text. Based on that facts, short stories can be used as base for literature learning in Indonesia subject at secondary school. These statement become an aims to see the effect of role playing methods in learning speaking skills through short story text. The research used quasi experimental method as a part of quantitative with non-equivalent control group design. The research was conducted in 11th grade's at 14 Senior High School with different subject. There were experimental class at XI IPA-1 and control class at XI IPA-2. The reason to use this methods, because role playing can help students finding their personal meaning in social world to resolve some problem situations. This method can also improve their speaking skills by involving attitudes and values of life. This statement is also has same purpose with the function of short stories which contain so much values that can be learned from character's behavior or events. The resultas of the research shows that there was an average score between pretest and postest at experimental class. Experimental class gained 44 scores for pre-test, and 85 scores for post-test. Meanwhile, control class gained 38 scores for pretest and 72 scores for post-test. In addition, based on hypothesis test using Mann-Whitney theory, all of the data results can be seen on the Asymp coloumn. Sig (2-tailed) shows that significance value of the research is 0,000. It can be concluded that H1 has been accepted and H0 has been rejected, because the significance of the results is <0.05 (0.000 <0.05). These different significant between speaking skills ability through a short story text with role playing methods give the result that experimental class is better than control class
