Abstract

Model pembelajaran Group Investigation merupkan tipe dari pembelajaran kooperatif. Rumusan masalah umum dalam penelitian ini yaitu “Apakah penerapan model pembelajaran Group Investigation dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa secara signifikan pada Mata Pelajaran PPKn ?”. Kemampuan berpikir kritis yang diteliti meliputi aspek memberikan penjelasan sederhana (elementary clarification), aspek membangun keterampilan dasar (basic support), aspek membuat kesimpulan (inference), aspek membuat penjelasan lanjut (advance clarification), serta aspek strategi dan taktik (strategic and tactic). Penelitian dilakukan karena pada umumnya proses pembelajaran PPKn di sekolah belum banyak menyentuh aspek-aspek kognisi yang tinggi. Terlihat dari salah satu hasil survei Program for International Students Assessment (PISA). Hasil observasi tersebut menunjukkan bahwasannya siswa telah terbiasa kerja dalam satu tim hanya saja kegiatan di dalamnya jarang melibatkan kegiatan menganalisis, mengevaluasi dan mencipta. Populasi penelitian ini merupakan siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 5 Bandung yang berjumlah 314 orang dengan sampel kelas VII G yang berjumlah 32 orang.yang diambil menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian One Group Time Series Design. Secara umum, hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Group Investigation efektif digunakan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada Mata Pelajaran PPKn kelas VII di SMP Negeri 5 Bandung. Maka, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model ini dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di sekolah menengah pertama khususnya pada Mata Pelajaran PPKn di kelas VII.;--The Group Investigation learning model is one of the types of cooperative learning. The general problem identified in this study was, "Can the application of the Group Investigation learning model enhance students' critical thinking skills significantly in PPKn subject?". The examined critical thinking skills cover the aspects of giving simple elucidation (elementary clarification), building basic competence (basic support), making a conclusion (inference), producing further elucidation (advance clarification), and strategic and tactical. The study was done due to the learning process of PPKn in general which had not covered the high cognition aspects. This could be seen from one of the survey results from the Program for International Students Assessment (PISA) which showed that the students got used to work in a team but the activity in the group rarely involved analyzing, evaluating, and producing activity. The population consisted of 314 students from SMPN 5 Bandung and 32 of them were taken using Purposive Sampling. The method applied in this study was the quasi experimental with One Group Time Series Design. Generally, the results showed that the implementation of Group Investigation was effective in enhancing students' critical thinking skills, particularly on PPKn subject, in SMPN 5 Bandung. In conclusion, this model could be applied to enhance students critical thinking skills in learning, particularly on PPKn subject at the seventh grade at junior high school level.
