Abstract

Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa yang disebabkan oleh penggunaan model pembelajaran yang kurang bervariasi atau masih menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeksripsikan bagaimana penerapan model SQ4R untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman pada siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak dua siklus dengan subjek penelitian 29 orang siswa. Data diperoleh melalui tes, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan 3 tahap yaitu reduksi data, paparan data, dan penyimpulan data. Data kuantitatif dengan cara menghitung nilai hasil membaca pemahaman, rata-rata nilai dan ketuntasan belajar siswa. Dari hasil tes dan analisis observasi setiap siklus menunjukan perkembangan positif terhadap pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model SQ4R. Rata-rata nilai yang diperoleh pada siklus I sebesar 71 siklus II meningkat menjadi 90. Sedangkan peningkatan ketuntasan belajar pada siklus I sebesar 55,2% dan meningkat pada siklus II sebesar 93,1%. Berdasarkan hasil peningkatan tersebut, bahwa penerapan model SQ4R dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman pada siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar.

This research is motivated by the lack of students' reading comprehension skills caused by the use of learning models that are less varied or still use conventional learning. The purpose of this study is to describe how the application of the SQ4R model to improve reading comprehension skills in grade IV elementary school students. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR) with Kemmis and Mc Taggart models. This research was conducted in two cycles with research subjects of 29 students. Data obtained through tests, observations, and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively with 3 stages, namely data reduction, data exposure, and data inference. Quantitative data by calculating the value of the results of reading comprehension, average value and student learning completeness. From the test results and observational analysis each cycle shows a positive development of learning by applying the SQ4R model. The average value obtained in the first cycle of 71 the second cycle increased to 90. While the increase in mastery learning in the first cycle of 55.2% and increased in the second cycle of 93.1%. Based on the results of these improvements, that the application of the SQ4R model can improve reading comprehension skills in grade IV elementary school students.
