Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran SQ3R melalui tahapan survey, question, read, recite dan review. Keterampilan membaca pemahaman merupakan keterampilan yang harus dimiliki siswa agar mampu memahami isi teks bacaan secara menyeluruh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) mengadaptasi model PTK dari Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian di salah satu sekolah dasar negeri di Kota Bandung ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas IV D yang berjumlah 28 siswa yang terdiri dari 11 orang laki-laki dan 17 orang perempuan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes, catatan lapangan, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan hal positif, dilihat dari ketuntasan belajar dan nilai rata-rata siswa yang terus meningkat ditiap siklusnya. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode pembelajaran SQ3R dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Kata kunci: metode pembelajaran SQ3R, keterampilan membaca pemahaman, sekolah dasar This reaseach is motivated by the low comprehension skills of elementary school students. The purpose of this study is to improve reading comprehension skills by applying the SQ3R learning method through the stages of survey, question, read, recite, review. Reading comprehension skills are the abilities that students must possess in order to be able to comprehend the contents of the reading text as a whole. The reasearch method used is Classroom Action Reaseach adapting model from Kemmis and Mc Taggart. The reseach in one of the public elementary schools in Bandung City was conducted in two cycles with the subject of the reaseach being grade IV D students totaling 28 students consisting of 11 males and 17 females. Data collection is done through tests, field notes, observations, and documentation. The result showed a positive thing, seen from the completenes and means of student learning that continues to increase in each cycle. Based on these data it can be concluded that the application of the SQ3R learning method can improve reading comprehension skills of grade IV students in elementary school.
