Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning terhadap pemahaman konsep dan penalaran siswa pada materi perubahan lingkungan dengan submateri pemanasan global. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 13 Bandung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode quasy eksperimental dan desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah nonequivalen control group design. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu 15 soal pilihan ganda pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep siswa dan 4 soal uraian pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur penalaran siswa serta lembar observasi keterlaksanaan sintaks pembelajaran discovery learning. Berdasarkan hasil uji beda rata-rata pada tes pemahaman konsep dan penalaran siswa menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan secara signifikan antara nilai rata-rata posttest penguasaan konsep dan penalaran siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, maka terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning terhadap pemahaman konsep dan penalaran siswa SMA pada materi perubahan lingkungan. Hasil keterlaksanaan sintaks pembelajaran discovery learning pada materi perubahan lingkungan dengan submateri pemanasan global memperoleh persentase sebesar 100% yang termasuk dalam kategori seluruh kegiatan terlaksana (observation, manipulation, generalization, verification, dan application). Rekomendasi bagi peneliti selanjutnya, sebaiknya dilakukan penggunaan instrumen angket respon siswa yang diberikan sebelum dan setelah perlakuan, mengukur hubungan pemahaman konsep dengan penalaran siswa, wawancara terhadap siswa terkait perlakuan yang diberikan, dan menggunakan materi penelitian yang berkaitan erat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Kata Kunci: Discovery Learning, Pemahaman Konsep, Penalaran, Perubahan Lingkungan The purpose of the research for investigated the effects of discovery learning model on student’s understanding concepts and reasoning on the topic of environmental change with subtopic is global warming. The subject in this research is senior high school student of “SMA Negeri 13 Bandung” Class X. The method use in this research is quasy experimental and design of the research is nonequivalen control group design. The instrument in this research use 15 question multiple choice pretest and posttest to measure understanding concept of students and 4 question description pretest and posttest for measure reasoning of students and observation implementation syntax of discovery learning. Based on the test result of average difference on student’s understanding concepts test and students reasoning shows that there is a significant difference between posttest mean value of mastery of concept and students reasoning in experiment class and control class, hence there is influence of discovery learning model to understanding concept and reasoning high school students on environmental change materials. Result of learning syntax from discovery learning on environmental change material with global warming as sub-material obtains a percentage of 100% included in the category of all activities implemented (observation, manipulation, generalization, verification, and application). Recommendations for future researchers should be using a student’s questionnaire response given before and after treatment, measuring the relationship between student’s understanding concept and reasoning, interviewing students related to the treatment given, and using research materials that are closely related to daily life.
