Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematis siswa, khususnya dalam menyatakan ulang, merepresentasi, dan mengaplikasikan. Penyebabnya yaitu siswa belajar dengan cenderung hanya mengandalkan rumus atau cara yang diinformasikan secara langsung oleh guru, siswa hanya diminta untuk mengingat materi yang telah disampaikan oleh guru, dan tidak adanya pembuktian mengenai hasil kerja siswa. Alternatif solusi yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan menerapkan model guided discovery learning (GDL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pelaksanaan pembelajaran pada muatan pelajaran matematika dan peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas V sekolah dasar setelah diterapkan model GDL. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VB yang berjumlah 27 siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan menerapkan model Stephen Kemmis dan Robbin McTaggart yang telah dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan materi pokok tabel, diagram gambar, diagram batang dan diagram garis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan pada pembelajaran di setiap siklus melalui penerapan model GDL. Pada siklus I nilai rata-rata pemahaman konsep matematis siswa 73,9 dengan ketuntasan belajar 52% dan meningkat pada siklus II nilai rata-rata siswa menjadi 86,1 dengan ketuntasan sebesar 96%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model GDL dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Kata kunci: Model Guided Discovery Learning, Pemahaman Konsep Matematis ---------- This research is based on the low understanding of students’ mathematical concepts, especially in restating, representing, and applying. The reason is that students learn by tending to only rely on formulas or ways that are informed directly by the teacher, students are only asked to memorize the material that has been delivered by the teacher, and there is no proof of the student’s work. The Alternative solution that can be done is by applying guided discovery learning model (GDL). The purpose of the study is to describe the process implementation of learning mathematics lesson content and increased understanding of mathematical concepts of fifth grade elementary school students after applied the GDL model. Participants in this study are 27 students of VB class. The research method used in this study is classroom action research (CAR) by applying Stephen Kemmis and Robbin McTaggart model which is implemented in two cycles with learning materials around table, image diagrams, bar charts, and line diagrams. The result of the study shows the fact of improvement in learning in each cycle through the application of the GDL model. In cycle I the average results of the understanding of mathematical concepts of students is 73,9 with learning completeness 52% and in cycle II, the average results of students becomes 86,1 with learning completeness of 96%. Based on the result of the study it can be concluded that the application of GDL model can increase the conceptual understanding of mathematic for fifth grader elementary school.
