Abstract

Hope merupakan sebuah sistem motivasi yang dapat membuat individu bisa menghargai dan mencapai tujuannya. Hope sebagai proses dari pemikiran satu tujuan dengan motivasi untuk mendapatkan tujuan tersebut. Hope memiliki keterikatan dengan prestasi akademik. Peserta didik dengan kecenderungan hope tinggi memiliki pencapaian prestasi akademik yang baik. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kecenderungan hope peserta didik kelas XI SMAN 7 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019 berdasarkan perbedaan gender. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan desain survey dengan partisipan sebanyak 267 peserta didik, terdiri dari laki-laki sejumlah 107 dan perempuan sejumlah 160 yang tersebar dalam sembilan kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu instrumen General Hope yang mendeskripsikan dua aspek hope yaitu agency dan pathway. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis Kruskall Wallis untuk mengungkap perbedaan tingkat hope laki-laki dan perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kecenderungan hope peserta didik kelas XI berada pada kategori tinggi, begitupun dengan kedua aspeknya dan terdapat perbedaan kecenderungan hope pada remaja secara signifikan berdasarkan gender. The Tendency of Adolescent Hope on Gender Differences (A Study of Hope in SMA Negeri 7 Bandung, Academic Year 2018/2019) Hope is a motivational system that can make individuals appreciate and achieve their destination. Hope as a process of thinking one goal with the motivation to get that goal. Hope has an attachment to academic achievement. Learners with high hope tendency have a good academic achievement. Hope helps individuals avoid from psychological problems. Students with high hope tendencies have positive views in dealing with problems. This study describes the hope tendency of 11th-grade students of SMAN 7 Bandung Academic Year 2018/2019 based on gender. The quantitative approach and survey desighn are conducted in this research. The participants were 267 students, consisting of 107 males and 160 females which taken from nine classes. The instrument used is the General Hope instrument which described two hope aspects, namely agency, and pathway. The data were analyzed by Kruskall Wallis analysis to reveal the differences between male and female hope levels. The result showed that the hope tendency of 11th-grade students is in the high category, as well as the agency aspect and pathway are equally high. Therefore, there are significant hope tendency differences in adolescents based on gender. Keywords: Hope, agency, pathway, and gender
