Abstract

Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah rendahnya keterampilan literasi informasi siswa dalam pembelajaran sejarah. Hal ini terlihat dari rendahnya keterampilan mereka dalam mencari, mengolah, dan menyajikan informasi. Rumusan masalah penelitian ini adalah bagaimana merencanakan metode the Big6 sebagai upaya meningkatkan keterampilan literasi informasi, bagaimana melaksanakan pembelajaran sejarah dengan menggunakan metode the Big6, bagaimana peningkatan keterampilan literasi informasi siswa setelah diterapkannya metode the Big6 juga upaya guru mengatasi kendala dalam penerapan metode the Big6 untuk meningkatkan keterampilan literasi informasi siswa. Peneliti menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan desain penelitian model Kemmis dan Taggart yang terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah manusia yaitu peneliti sendiri, pedoman observasi, catatan lapangan, dan pedoman wawancara dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, studi dokumenter, dan wawancara. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Hasil temuan penelitian menunjukan adanya peningkatan keterampilan literasi informasi di setiap siklusnya setelah diterapkanya metode the Big6 dalam pembelajaran sejarah. Peningkatan tersebut terjadi pada beberapa indikator keterampilan literasi informasi seperti mengakses dan menyeleksi informasi, mengidentifikasi informasi dari tiap sumber, dan menyajikan informasi. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode the Big6 dapat menjadi alternatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan literasi informasi siswa dalam pembelajaran sejarah di kelas X IPS 1 SMA Negeri 10 Bandung. This research is based on the low information literacy skills of students when learning history. The problem can be seen from the lack of searching, organizing, and presenting the information. The formulation on this research is how to plan the application of the Big6 method to improve information literacy skills; how the implementation historical learning using the Big6 method, how to improve students information literacy skills after the application of the the Big6 method, how the enhancement of information literacy skills after the application the Big6 method and also the teacher’s effort to resolves the obstacles when applying the Big6 method in an effort to raise students information literacy skills. This research used the Classroom Action Research method with Kemmis and Taggart research design model consist of any stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The resercher uses human instruments, observation guidelines, fild notes, interview guidelines as data collection tools and uses observation, documentation studies, and interview as data collection techniques. This research was conducted in three cycles. The result showed a escalation of information literacy skills in every cycles after the application of the Big6 methods in historical learning. The improvement was happened in several indicators of the information literacy skills including access and select the information sources, identify the information in every sources, and presented the information. The conclusion is the application of the Big6 method can increase students information literacy skills in historical learning in the class of X IPS 1 High School 10 Bandung.
